HOLY CRAP! BIG FULMER CUP NEWS OUT OF OK

Preseason hype darling Oklahoma will likely lose some of their media allure following the breaking news that starting quarterback Rhett Bomar has been dismissed from the team. The allegation is not a sexy one, but a major problem to be sure. Bomar reportedly was being paid for a hours not actually worked at a summer job.

OUCH!!!!!

Yeah, that was a little dumb. Anyone know who might take over for him? Maybe they could try to turn Adrian Perterson into another Vince Young.

Paul Thompson is the best bet, but since he lost the job after TCU last year he has switched to receiver. They have a JUCO guy that came in, but he was disappointing in the spring game. It’s a great day to be a Longhorn!!!

by Hookem76 on Aug 2, 2006 3:01 PM EDT reply actions

This is probably also going to hurt Adrian’s heisman campaign.

bomar (ou), ting(usc), ellis t. whatever (in the core of silicon valley)? who’s behind this recent rash of trouble? look no further than the washington huskies. ty w. has finally found a way to return the team to glory. as we speak there is an idaho vandal thanking god they’re not on the 2006 schedule. ’sno state up next.

by joe on Aug 2, 2006 3:03 PM EDT reply actions

There’s another player involved … some speculation is that it’s JD Quinn. OU’s shaky OL just got shakier, if true.

Peterson must be having thoughts of bailing. He got beaten up last year, and I can’t imagine he’s looking forward to having the same treatment this year as he gets ready to go pro.

I think the Aggies are the ones who are truly rejoicing today. And Stoops is probably rethinking his rejection of Florida’s offers.

It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Bomar is a jerk. The biggest downside is that OU’s future Fulmer Cup aspirations just took a big hit.

Bomar was probably going to be good for at least a DUI and/or a disorderly conduct or two based on his problems with booze.

maybe they can steal schaeffer from ole miss, I mean seriously ole miss vs oklahoma…its like choosing between denise richards and that tired old slut of a principle that the tn player laid it to

At last my prophecy that Bomar was the new Rix is fulfilled….although he took pulling a Rix to a whole new level, natch.

by NoleinTexas on Aug 2, 2006 3:24 PM EDT reply actions

there’s no such thing as a problem with booze when you are in college. unless, like me, you live a blue laws state where the ABC store closes a 7 PM.

by adam on Aug 2, 2006 3:24 PM EDT reply actions

Blue laws blow. you can’t buy in CT on a sunday. and you can’t buy after 9. f that. that’s why I love NY. we go out in CT till the bar shuts down at two, then hop in the car and head down to Port Chester right across the border (you can toss your empties back into CT) for more boozing till 4 am.

Now it looks like OU will really get its ass kicked in the National Title game. Since a Pac-10 team and a SEC team have already stomped a mudhole through the Sooners, I’ll pick Ohio State to do the honors this year.

Sincerely,

Bitter, Party of One

I believe the same thing was referenced in the Literarry classic THE BOZ by Brian Bosworth in 1988. He was paid $40k or $50k for just “watching” oil riggs on the Oklahoma Plains. If that dude was watching any thing other than porn and gamefilm, I’ll run down the office hallway naked singing how Appalachian State is Hot, Hot, Hot. This will be a slap on the wrist and a wink. “don’t do that again guys or else”.

turn peterson into a vince? Are you blind? You can’t turn anything into Vince Young. You must have forgotten that VY had the third best QB rating in the nation last year.

by THEFINCH on Aug 2, 2006 3:59 PM EDT reply actions

I wonder if Bomar picked up and dropped off a leased-vehicle as well. All the superstars get their perks from the same Red Dealership. Post the OU escalade again.

My co-workers and I all agree that Bomar did the only smart thing — if I was facing certain humiliation at the hands of UAB in the season opener, I’d try my damnedest to get booted off the team, too.

and what about these clowns from the auburn eagles suspended for the first three games of the year

by S on Aug 2, 2006 4:19 PM EDT reply actions

I was joking about the vince thing. I relaize that he is an incredible talent whos equal may never be found.

by Ben on Aug 2, 2006 4:26 PM EDT reply actions

Those clowns are Kevin Sears and Tray “Li’l Ball of Hate” Blackmon. When they get back for the Buffalo game, there will be hell to pay, Bills fans.

Tray could possibly kill somebody this year, especially after redshirting and having to sit out this long. Johnnie Walker Wilson better watch out during the Iron Bowl; the “Li’l Ball” tolls for him.

by AUAlum on Aug 2, 2006 4:30 PM EDT reply actions

It’s probably the same car dealership Peterson was involved with. That guy is bad news.

johnnie walker wilson…hilarious…I hope you didn’t strain too hard coming up with that one

by matt on Aug 2, 2006 4:44 PM EDT reply actions

It looks like Bomar is just the tip of the iceberg here.

by Steve in Houston on Aug 2, 2006 5:19 PM EDT reply actions

Why didn’t they just pay him more per hour?

by Brian on Aug 2, 2006 5:58 PM EDT reply actions

So the big question is…Which mid-to-low level Oklahoma college will be punished by the NCAA for OU’s transgressions?

Watch out Tulsa! Sanctions on the way!!

Wooderson, your story of tossing empties back into Connecticut reminds me of the times my granddad from Texas visited his family in Oklahoma and dumped years’ worth of used oil and oil filters in Oklahoma before returning home.
