COKER TO PLAYERS: NO NEED TO PACK HEAT IN MIAMI
On the heals of Willie Cooper being shot in the ass and Brandon Meriweather pulling a gun, Coker plans to have a little talk with his team. In that chat, he plans to ask them to please stop cut back on the firearms. He is also expected to ask that the "pimpin'" of "da hoes" be kept to a minimum at the U. Coker has also requested final cut rights on the 7th Floor Crew's next single.

Coker and Ibis, like Crocket and Tubbs before them, look to clean up Miami.

Goddammit, this reeks. It’s against everything the U stands for.

Miami should carry weapons to games, it will keep them undefeated. It will be like the opening scene from “The Last Boy Scout”, running down the field , shooting Seminole players. It’s a win-win attitude.

Hurricanes coach Larry Coker said he plans to discourage players from owning handguns.
“I don’t really want our players to have firearms. I’d rather they would dial 911 to come and handle those type of problems,” Coker said at ACC Football Kickoff media days Monday.
Loosely translated, this means (doing a lousy impersonation of Bill Lumberg from Office Space), “gee guys, firearms can really get you in a lot of trouble, so it would be grrreat if you could just, um, not bring them to practice or keep them locked in your Escalade, m’kay? Grreat.”

Is it just me or did Bobby Bowden admit to having an arsenal for his players?

Did Coker not catch Kellen Winslow Jr.‘s speech after the loss to Tennessee. Something along the line of, It’s a war out there, I’m a soldier, We’ve got to protect this U. Coker better watch what he says or he will get his ass fragged by his “Soldiers”.

Gentlemen, we’ve just witnessed the official decline in recruiting at the U. All of South Beach can’t help Coker now. If he doesn’t want his athletes carrying a strap all those high schoolers will go elsewhere.
I hear Nebraska is looking to expand.

It’s great fun that Miami continues to live up their image as if following a script, but I seriously doubt the guy shooting at the two Canes would have jumped a fence to flee if they’d pulled out a cellphone to dial 911.
While being on that street at that hour endangered their lives, owning a gun arguably saved them.

This is somewhat ridiculous. They are damn lucky Meriweather did have his gun, as far as I am concerned. Having a gun isn’t a problem, shooting it into the air because you are upset about the cancelation of BET Uncut is. Luther Campbell will have something to say about this.

Dude, they were leaving their house to go to early morning practice/conditioning. it get so hot down here in Miami, that it would be stupid to practice in the middle of the afternoon when the sun is high and these guys are all still in summer classes, so that wouldn’t work anyway.
and yes, i agree with you that Merriweather’s gun saved lives, but i just wanted to point out the legitimacy of the time of morning.

coach coker, personally, i am glad that brandon meriweather owns a gun. i don’t know the events that led up to this, but i can tell you one thing. i know willie cooper and i can guarantee you that if willie did anything to put himself in position to be shot, he was doing the right thing and the gunman didn’t like it.
willie’s from st augustine and i know him personally. the kid does not drink and does not smoke (cigarettes or weed). he’s a good kid with his head planted squarely on his shoulders and his feet firmly on the ground.
again, thank god brandon did have a firearm. how long do you think it would have taken 911 in miami to arrive on the scene???? my friend, willie cooper, could have possibly been killed before they got there.
