OU TRYING TO AVOID BECOMING OSU
Hmm. I wonder if Adrian Peterson will be declaring for the draft after this season?(notice the question mark) It seems that the Oklahoma running back has been doing some car shopping at a place called Big Red Sports and Imports. Unfortunately for Peterson, he only got to drive it for a few weeks before giving it back as it seems that at Oklahoma he would have had to pay for the vehicle. Jim Tressel told him this would happen.

Although the article didn’t say, we’re betting it was a red Escalade.

This is sad. So far, no one has actually read the original article. The morons evidence themselves either in Slim’s method, or in the method of just simply not knowing any of the facts.
Here’s the short version: They signed a sales contract, and BRS&I started shopping the finance paper. They got someone to buy it, they sent the Peterson family (21 year old AD can’t finance a car without a co-signer) the payment book, and the car came back. This is (sadly) standard practice at used car companies. You should be mourning the fact that people with actual debt get taken advantage of this way.
There are two things that people should keep in mind:
1) People drive cars they can’t afford everyday. Visit Dallas, home of the $35k a year “millionaire” and the sheer quantity of BMW’s for evidence of this fact.
2) If anything here is questionable, it isn’t the fact that they let a guy who signed a sales contract and filled out finance paperwork drive a car he was attempting to purchase off the lot. It’s the fact that after he got the payment book, they let him bring it back. Again, this is actually legal if the payment structure the dealership quoted them isn’t the one they end up getting.

that the OU “compliance” department is on the case is of course a great relief to all of us. I assume its being led by that paragon of virtue, Barry Switzer.
I can hear the “exhaustive” investigation now:
Barry: Y’all doin anything bad over there?
BRS&I: Naw, Barry. All’s well here. Normal business practice you see. Available to all students. Please give us a call if you need a free ride. It’s all part our brilliant new marketing strategy that up til now, only the OU coaches seemed to know about. We’ll need to be talking to our marketing department about that. In the meantime, please feel free to give our switchboard a call, or better yet, fill out our credit app on line. No salary or credit history required, but we’d appreciate knowing your latest time in the 40 yard dash.
Barry: thought so. good job. keep in touch and I’ll see y’all on the 50 in the fall.
Barry to NCAA: all clear down here, guys. nothin’ to this story. well, i guess that about covers this deal. I’m off to my next assignment. I’ll be interviewing the fox about the rumors of a chicken “incident” in the local henhouse.

Robb,
“John Voight!? The actor?”
“No, the periodontist”.
Two words for all the Bama fans playing the part of ‘the victim’ … Albert …. Means.

Reminds me of Herschel Walker and the Camaro situation.
Maybe that’s why UGA fans like Camaros so much!

I think we have it all wrong here. OSU is the new OU. Barry Switzer. Charles Thompson and his Duke hat getting busted for rock. The Boz.
Come on people.

I like the red Escalade, but I’m more of a van guy. I wonder if Tressel could hook me up with one.
P.S.
Matthew,
You missed one. “I wonder…” isn’t a question, so you don’t need a question mark. Ha! Now I’m king of the grammar police!

All that said, I do love this blog - I just don’t like the tOSU-hating that goes on here…at least the Escalade jerseys were FUNNY, y’know?

matsut thank you for seeing the same b.s. that I see.
UF fans and others just like them hate on the traditional powerhouse schools because of their envy.
In the same way Fulmer hates becuase his payment to a player wasn’t good enough to get him to come and play for his fat ass.

oh, you haters….like “CHARLIE MURPHEY!” alludes to above (only I’m talking about hating on tOSU rather than Bama), it’s both exasperating and edifying when almost any subject becomes an excuse to hate on one’s team. Exasperating because one just gets effing sick of all this pot-calling after a while, and edifying because one just knows that the hating is a symptom of another’s insides being devoured by envy…
The “the” has always been there, it’s just that in recent years, players from Ohio State that have been asked to record their names/schools for TV broadcasts of all-star games, pro games, etc., have taken to saying, for example, “Orlando Pace - THE Ohio State University”. And the haters run with it - and the “cheaters” meme, etc. - I suppose because the football being played by tOSU these days (and for the foreseeable future) is as good/better than EVERYBODY ELSE’S. PSUrob: one aberrantly good season does not a power-projecting program make, especially when the goggle-eyed, ref-raping/lynching, senile misogynist is only about a year or two away from going away, and all of a sudden you’re Michigan State. What’s that, Orson/Stanko? - Oh, that’s right, you’re thus far merely HOPING that Urban can do for your football team what “Cheatypants” has done for his…after all, we’re talking about football here, right?
