R.I.P SMOKEY

College Football has lost a friend ... man's best friend in fact. Tennessee mascot extraordinaire, Smokey, has gone to chase squirrels in the great beyond. You were never as cool as UGA, but non the less, rest in peace Smokey VIII. Smokey IX has big shoes to fill.

Smokey, the one on the left, passed away of kidney problems.

I think Smokey IX has actually been on the sidelines for a while. The thing with VIII had been going on for a while.

I agree smokey’s not as cool as UGA…. but that’s the university. The dog is Uga and specifically VI. Yeah I know nitpicky, what can I say….. guilty.

Smokey retired after the 04 Peach Bowl due to high blood pressure.

A season like last year is enough to stroke out the best of us. Smokey’s probably lying at Bear Bryant’s feet, scratching and licking his balls. Probably licking Bear’s too, since the Bear owned us while he was living.
