I love spring practice...I attended the Gamecocks spring practice last year and did tailgate and sneak booze into the stadium and watch a, what would be a great freshman, (sidney rice) blow by one of our corners to make him fall. Sidney then became wide open missed the ball right off his chest. I laughed and said everyone lost for the gamecocks on that play...little did i know sidney would turn out to be the badass that he is today.

Also, once we get this thing set up, I think we need to arrange for one Bulldog weblogger to steer clear of the confab.

This is purely precautionary . . . sort of like when they keep one Cabinet member away from the state of the union address, so that not everyone in the line of presidential succession is in the same place at the same time.

Minor (though by no means insurmountable) problem:

When I called to confirm receipt of my season ticket contribution, the guy at the ticket office told me the G-Day game was "tentatively" set for 2:00.

Thanks to some crack research by Doug, we now know kickoff will be at noon instead.

That necessitates rearranging the schedule somewhat, and perhaps moving from late breakfast/early lunch to a tailgate.

Doug is on this and the e-mails are flying fast and furious, so, though there will be a slight change of plans, AtlAthBlogConORamaAGanzaPaloozaFest '06 will happen on April 8. Stay tuned. . . .

I'm up for meeting at Taco Stand at noon on Saturday, April 8.

How 'bout if we let Doug send out a confirmation e-mail to Paul Westerdawg, Michael at Braves & Birds, et al., to make sure that's good with them, too, and we can make it official later this week?

I love it when a plan comes together. . . .

Well, I haven't been hungover enough this semester to warrant a trip to Taco Stand, so I'm long overdue. And everyone's right: April 8 is a Saturday, meaning I'm going to see Ween on a Monday. Huzzahs!

Several other predictions on how some coaches may return to campus.

Scratch Water Skier/Recruiter Extraordinaire, Ron Zook, sloloms into town after taking a few loops around Lake Champaign.

After paratrooping from the skies, Coach Orgeron, opens up his rucksack spilling the rotted corpse of Osama Bin Laden. Orgeron quickly calms his team before matching first team offense vs. first team defense in a friendly game of buzkashi.

ha... the dude second from the right... the look on his face makes the picture.

who's up for April 22 (?) for Meyer's second spring game? I heard that we'll have an attendance roughly equivalent to the population of the entire Dallas/FortWorth Metroplex this year.

Five Star Day probably has to go down as one of my five favorite restaurants in the Western Hemisphere, but you can go to a Ford dealer right now and buy a full-size van that seats more people than their dining area, so that might not be the way to go if we're expecting a good-sized crowd.

Taco Stand brings back many fond memories of getting my under-21 drink on for gameday, but I realize that's not necessarily going to be a draw for everyone.

April 8 is a Saturday. (If it isn't, then I'm getting the date wrong and the G-Day game is whatever Saturday falls closest to April 8.)

I just sent an e-mail to Doug Gillett, who seems like the logical point man on this, seeing as how he's the only one of us with guts enough to post his real name and his photograph on his weblog. (Identifying one another in a restaurant without him as the focal point would pose an interesting challenge.)

There are any number of suitable eateries within easy walking distance of the Arch and I am not picky. The Mayflower, the Grill, the Mellow Mushroom, the Taco Stand . . . any and all are O.K. by me.

Ian, you're living in Athens now and the rest of us aren't, so you probably have the clearest idea of the pros and cons of our various options. What do you suggest? What's the best place, victuals-wise, wait time-wise, and otherwise?
