TEXAS TO ESPN: F*CK YOU!
Do you think the Longhorns watched all month as ESPN performed constant fellatio on the USC Trojans 2005 team? Did the feel just a bit disrespected that the worldwide leader spent far less time talking about the Rose Bowl matchup than they did mythically pitting USC’s second best team in the last 2 years against historically great teams, only to find that noone could stop these Trojans? Perhaps Vince Young felt a little miffed when ESPN decided it would be the number campaigner for Reggie Bush’s Heisman run. Well, Texas got the last word and it was a resounding one. Although Reggie Bush might make for a better pro prospect, Vince Young proved he was the best college player in the country last night. It was clear and unequivocal. Texas had to stop a myriad of USC future first rounders yet they were able to contain Bush save for one big play. USC had only to watch for one playmaker but Young was simply too good. Take that Bristol University!

Who’s the man? That’s right Vince, you’re the man. Now go get yourself paid for this stuff.

To anyone who recorded the game last night:
I set my DVD recorder to start at 7pm in 4-hour mode, and missed the glorious victory (game went until 11:35, post-game well after). Stupid, stupid, stupid.
If anyone can burn me a DVD of everything after 11pm Central time (preferably including post-game and Vince’s awful rendition of “We are the Champions”), I’d be happy to pay you for your trouble.
Besides, you’d be making a fellow football fanatic very happy. I’d be eternally grateful. Please contact me at randycorona@msn.com.

bitterhorn,
in post 35 you compare bush to dante hall saying he is too small to make a significant impact on the offense. I think bush has more value than that. I believe Marshall Faulk was about the same size coming out. Not to mention on his secound (or third) carry bush delivers a pop to a would be tackler.

Matt,
Based on your post (21) vince young should not get credit for his great performance last night because it was against the 40th ranked defense.

I hope I’m wrong, maybe he’ll beef up and be able to take the pounding with the Toxins. Especially if they can draft some of those 600lb tongan lineman from USC. I think he can be significant, but not necessarily on every down.

Good point about SC’s offensive line. Texas’ D line was dominant this year, but not in the rose bowl (except for one 4th and 2 late in the forth qtr). Did anyone else notice Deuce Latui’s face inside that helmet. Looked like the fat that spills over when a big girl wears pumps. He neads all 365lbs just to get that helmet off. Off course Im not saying this if he is standing next to me.

Post 48: Here is the “total offense” rankings of the teams that played your “defensive juggernaut” team-Alabama: Out of 117 D-1 teams(high ranking is bad)- 113,111,105,100,90,70,66,60, 61, 37,and 6. As you can see, there were two teams on that schedule that were in the top 50% of offensive production of the 117 teams in D-1. Be careful with numbers. Looks like Alabama’s schedule is pretty bad. And, I did not include Utah fucking State!!

dragonash — CrimsonTide12xsChamps may be a little over-excited, but the Alabama defense was legit. That number 60 offense on your list hung 40 points on the supposedly great defense of Miami but was held to only 16 (including overtime) by Bama. And number 6 on your list (even better pre-bowl) was held to a whopping 10 points in its bowl game — they had been averaging more than 40.

dragonash-you are talking down a defense that held TT to 10 points (with their 1 td coming with 2 min left)… I feel embarassed for you. How many points did Texas give up to TT.

What is the record Texas vs Alabama? 0-6 or is it 0-5 Texas favor? Don’t hand me that crap that “we were robbed because Namath scored in the Cotton Bowl in ‘63″. That’s what I feel sorry for and am embarrased about. It was 31-10 Texas at the half vs TT. Kiss my fat, white ass overrated Bammer.

The really ridiculous aspect of ESPN’s love affair with 2005 USC was that the 2005 team wasn’t nearly as good as the 2004 team.
The 2005 team had a mediocre defense. I fail to see how a defense could lose Mike Patterson, Shaun Cody, Lofa Tatupu and Matt Grootegoed and be better. USC wasn’t. Last year’s USC team wouldn’t have had such trouble with Notre Dame, Arizona State or Fresno State because they could play D. This year’s team couldn’t.
