OREGON MAKES CASE THAT THEY WERE SCREWED OUT OF BEING IN THE RIGHT BOWL GAME
Coming off of a loss to unranked Oklahoma, the Oregon Ducks fans will no doubt continue spamming NCAA officials now feeling vindicated that they were screwed by the process that sent them, a 1 loss Pac-10 team, to the Holiday Bowl. Clearly, being matched up with an unranked team that plays defense was just meant to humilate the bizarrely clad Ducks. Had the NCAA rightly evaluated them and sent them to the bowl game their on field achievements merited, they too could have beaten BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Come on, guys – they only lost to USC by 32. They beat Fresno State! Fresno State!!
By the way, that offense reeks of Gary Crowton’s gimmickery. It only worked in the NFL for one year with the Bears, and it sure isn’t going to work in bowl games against quality BCS opponents.

Well it’s obvious now that Oregon would indeed hand the Irish their asses. In fact I’m sure they lost to Oklahomo to protest their BCS snub.

I swear, if I have to listen to anymore of you Oregon cry-babies…Let’s face it, you are perennially the Jan Brady to somebody else’s Pac-10 Marcia. Lately, that’s been USC, but who really doesn’t matter. Oregon is a mid-level “power conference” program, which means it has to win it’s conference or beat a big-name opponent in order go to a “big” bowl game. The Ducks did neither, and they couldn’t even beat a very mediocre Oklahoma side. So quit your quacking and figure out how to beat Marcia next year.

Keep holding your breath guys. I bet all Oregon whining/holy hell starts up again if Notre Dame gets plowed by Ohio State next Monday.
For the sake of future sane postings on college football boards and for the sake of my liver, Notre Dame has to beat Ohio State. Vegas, Sagrin, and whatever funky statistical determinations be damned.

The 20-20 vision is always fascinating. USC and Oklahoma was the matchup of the century last year, until the Sooners lost. Then the mantra was that Auburn was screwed and OU shouldn’t have gone. Techinically then, every team that loses their bowl now didn’t deserve to be there or anywhere better. Great.

Not at all what I’m saying in the case of Oregon, Heismanpundit. From day one, I said Oregon did not deserve to be in a BCS bowl, because they didn’t win their conference and/or didn’t beat anybody worthwhile. They certainly don’t help their case by losing their bowl game, but that had nothing to do with whether or not they should be in the BCS. For that matter, Notre Dame doesn’t belong there either, but a 3 billion dollar endowment and the fact that you can sell tickets makes a difference.
So, if you are Oregon:
1) Beat USC, or whoever “Marcia” is in the PAC-10 next year.
OR
2) Schedule somebody worthwhile in you non-conference schedule, and beat them.
OR
3) Guarantee the Fiesta Bowl folks that you can travel 15,000 fans.

Why am I not shocked that HP is one of the first folks stepping into the PAC-10/Oregon apologist line.
Let’s face it: Oregon was touted as a top team in the PAC-10, and they were handled fairly well by a mediocre team from a down Big XII. This is what happens when you get a top 10 ranking by way of beating nobody of consequence.

This was my college bowl lock. This seemingly happens every year. Team gets BCS snub. Plays poorly and barely wins or ends up losing.

Regarding Oregon’s loss, keep in mind their first string qb was out for the season, and #s 2&3 are just not in the same league.
And for those that felt that the okies were mediocre, they were at times, especially losing big time to #3 PAC-10 ucla.
Now as to G/Tech’s flameout in SFO, talk about a team that did not want to be there. #3 in ACC did not do much for that conference’s rep.

The ACC bowl situation was a joke this year though. GT (which was 5th in the ACC not 3rd) and BC were both passed over for inferior teams because of fanbase size. GT getting its head handed to them still doesn’t look good for the ACC but Clemson and BC winning helps. They’ll probably be 5-2 in the end which is not humiliating.

Watch those comparisons, though…the quality of the matchups whould be considered, too. Boise and a headless Colorado? That’s not two quality wins…it’s more like 1.5 or so.

I think Oregon was just too depressed to care after seeing what latest abomination Phil Knight Inc had come up with for them. Looked like 11 Rob Halford’s who can’t sing. Diamond plate on the knees…very butch, ladies…

Nicely done on the Rob Halford shot. Since I am “the older brother” to those of you “pushing 30,” I got to watch plenty of metal heads dealing first hand with the fact that the guy was gay.
I mean, c’mon…didn’t the studded leather tell you anything? Or the fact that Halofrd was dressing just like the biker guy from the Village People? Just goes to show you that you can deny anything with enough bong hits. They could never listen to “Turbo Lover” again. Except for the one guy who like both the Priest and the Village People – but he ended up “In The Navy.”

Auburn went undefeated in the SEC and didn’t get to play in the title game, but Oregon, which beat shittier teams did. That’s bullshit.
I completely reamed a PAC 10 friend (stanford) on how shitty his conference is last night.
