Around SBN: Dog Football! Which Breeds Are Best Suited For The Gridiron?

WTF.

Rich Brooks will serve out the fourth year of his sentence contract as Kentucky's Nero grumbling figurehead coach. Un-fucking-believable.

Further proof that the administration at Kentucky genuinely doesn’t give a shit about football. We’ve got our TV and BCS revenue from the SEC, cool, now let’s make sure nobody’s outspending us at recruiting junior high basketball players. Not that I think Kentucky basketball is particularly dirty, it’s just there’s such a standard level of grime at every big-time hoops program it bores me. Not like in football where the true outlaw programs really stand out from the pack…matter of fact, this is one thing that makes college football a lot more interesting, the dramatic tension over whether Program X will regress into past sleaziness.

Just for the record, Billy Donavan has been openly criticized by UNC’s coach for stealing mike miller from KU (whenever he was there). Its nice having sunshine and lots and lots and lots of money – and, of course, ‘clever’ coaches.

What’s the best you can hope for there? Mumme landed one huge recruit, cheated a little, and made it to a crappy bowl game. Why not continue to go that route. Hire the Mike Price’s and Barnett’s of the world? You may have to go on probation every know and then or receive some bad press, but at least you’ll get to go to a bowl game and take a fiesta in between the non conference basketball schedule and the real season.

Giving the white coach another year? What racists!

actually, weren’t they accused of that when they hired Brooks over Doug Williams?

I know it’s the Blue Grass state, but I bet everyone at UK was hoping for some Brooks and Done.

It is really inexplicable. I live here in Kentucky. Everyone I know wanted and expected him to be gone next year. They want Mitch Barnhardt gone too. I never would have expected this. The administration at UK has to be the stupidest bunch of people ever associated with athletics.

But, they did make the same mistake with Bill Curry, so why am I surprised?

Considering that Tubby is nearing the longest streak ever in UK history without a Final Four, and he keeps getting beat out on the bigname recruits … he might be gone first.
