How silly is it that someone who states the obvious is condemned for saying it? The whole "politically correct" thing will never end.

I'm talking about the fact that 194 of the top 200 times ever posted in the 100 meters were posted by runners of West African descent.

But your one guy in a less relevant race is good, too.

Like the 400-meter gold medalist Jeremy Wariner?

One hates to assail the character of a man who declares his faith with the caveat that he is open to the possibility that others' faiths may be worthy (as per DeBerry's June comment to the ADL), but but one must question a coach who sends a black, third string receiver to clip an effective opposing player(also black)away from and after a play.(TCU, Victor Thompson clips Drew Coleman)
To the credit of DeBerry's staff, one of his assistants apologized to the injured player and to his coach for the dirty act. DeBerry, as best I know, had nothing to say after the act.
Football provides us innumerable moral parables. DeBerry seems to correspond to several his gospel, no doubt, would inform were his faith armor not so opaque. It would seem that DeBerry's regard for the speed of black running backs is equal to his consideration that black football players are disposable bullets and targets, as well.

This is just like that one episode of Seinfeld:

"It's not racism if you like them."

And anon.

I really hope DeBerry doesn't get roasted over the coals for this, and I'd like whoever attempts to do so to please explain, like, the last 50 years of track.

Orson - Thank you for pulling me out of my post-hurricane funk (and I do mean funk) with this tribute to the most underrated career .265 hitter in the history of the game. Who can forget Oscar's magical run in 1979 when he finished a close third in the AL race for most intentional walks? Ahh the glory.
