Sorry. The cats are on our side. Including my gray fat-assed tabby, Brennan. And as I’m drunk and bored, I found out that “Orson Swindle” used to be the FTC commissioner. While I know the one on this site is actually something else (which I found out by my crack journalistic research skillz), I get no end of enjoyment by a guy taking an alias from a high-level bureaucrat. Hahahahahaha. Oh, and I need to include an “I told you so” about UF’s O-line. Of course, losing those two guys during the game had to be nasty bad for the Gators.

Yesterday was a digusting display by the Gators. We were overconfident, unprepared, flat. The worst part is our offensive coaching staff fell apart. I think the defense would have played more inspired ball had they had some points to work with, but there is very little positive to take from the game. We got punked on national tv.
One positive is that if you think Bama was fired up for us, wait until the Vols roll into T-town. They will get hammered too.

Regardless of the game’s outcome, I trust pre- & post-game fun was had in Tuscaloosa. Thanks to the past few seasons, you’ll find many young ladies in the area skilled in providing comfort after a loss.
Safe return, gentlemen, and see you in Atlanta. Roll Tide.

JC, thanks to the kindness–or pity?–of the good people of Tuscaloosa, we did actually have a monumental time. You could be working on a Sunday, or you could be watching football. Loss or not, we wanted to be there. Plus, we discovered that they serve nachos with pulled pork BBQ on them in Tuscaloosa. Genius. Special thanks goes to our Crimson Tide Sherpa Warren St. John, who hung out with us despite our jean shorts and Gator shirt.

Guys, don’t take it too hard. Once the SEC remembers that Florida’s coached by the man who invented football, I’m sure they won’t allow the travesty to stand. The “spread option” is the greatest innovation since the forward pass or perhaps even the helmet, and we must not forget that there’s a legend coaching in Gainesville. Surely all those articles written about his greatness BEFORE HE EVER COACHED AN SEC GAME couldn’t have been wrong?

Hope ‘Bama folks treated y’all well in T-town, maybe we’ll see you again in Atlanta.

Love the site. I attended the game, and I have never seen a crowd fired up that much from kickoff to the final whistle. What a game! It is too soon to say the spread option wont work in the sec, but the scheme definitely took a hit in prestige and wow factor. Some people who wrote so glowingly about the spread option have some explaining to do. Every gator player circled September 30th, 2006 on their calendar.

Good to hear Bama fans saying how unusually loud it was. The Swamp is consistently louder as a venue, but the “Rammer Jammer” at the end made us leap from our seat.

Yeah, the Hey Gators/Rammer Jammer at the end was amazing to hear through the TV. I’ve never heard a stadium chant come through so clearly on TV.
Also, the Zooker also lost be 28 on Saturday. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I heard that comment “the Fighting Zooks” again. Still, yet to hear about “the fighting Shulas.” Maybe it’s only reserved for coaches with bad teams. I’m wondering if Illinois is reconsidering their choice. I certainly wouldn’t have hired the guy after I watched that woeful UF-Miss. State game last year. I mean, the Bulldogs got beat by UAB — the only other Blazers win over an SEC school came with the freak win over LSU at Baton Rouge in 2000.

Just watched it on DVR. I was at Beaver Stadium in Happy Valley when they called out the score…”Late in the 4th Quarter, it’s Alabama 31…Florida 3″…..I was the only person in the stadium jumping up and down screaming and going nuts.
Everyone in the high roller section (my PSU sherpa is a great ticket obtainer) looked at me like I had 2 heads. The look taht says “WTF is wrong with that idiot?”
Rammer Jammer indeed. The only other time I’ve heard the cheer that clear was on the radio when Bama did it the entire 4th quarter to UT in Neyland in 2002. VERY cool.
Bummer about Prothro.

As a ‘Bama fan, I have to say that I appreciate the graceful loss — you’d never see anything like this out of a Vol or LSU blogger.

Hack – Congrats on the big win. I’m feeling more & more fortunate that UGA got Bama in 02 & 03 and not this year, although Atlanta is a possibility, as it seems all 3 of the big boys in the East are a bit overrated.
Just wanted to tell you that Cal is often referred to as “The Fighting Tedfords”, and he is a great coach.
Swindle/Montana – sorry about the loss, but sounds like you had fun & got to put another SEC stadium under your belt.
I’m not as scared of UT & UF as I was a few weeks ago, but having said that I think UGA might be just as suspect. We’ll find out more this week I suppose.

No doubt, sad to see Pete’s bias reaching out to other blogs. As usual someone points to the extreme Al Qaeda Vol fan, and puts us all in the same boat. However, he is correct, you guys have an objective opinion, and your sight is crackin’ up, not to mention graceful in defeat. Glad there are folks out there who actually welcome other teams fans, instead of kicking them in the nuts every time they post. Keep it up guys!

You two show me a classy loss in three weeks and I’ll take it all back. Honest.
Problem is I’ve never even met a UT fan that was anything but a poor sport. I’m sure they exist, I’ve just never run across any.
That’s not bias, it’s real life experience. Sad but true.

Fecil’s comments are some of the best wry observations ever! Florida did have problems with the AL speed factor, but I don’t think Florida is overrated; AL just happens to match up well against a fast team. I still say UT is not going to be a pretty one for AL, but I am uplifted by the good vibes of so many UF folks who believe AL will hang 50 on UT.
BTW, my dad said the stadium reminded him of when he went to school in the 60’s at AL – no finer compliment, indeed.
