THE CATCH OF THE YEAR.

I know it is early but I can't imagine a better one this this catch by Tyrone Prothro for the Crimson Tide. Bama looked pretty weak, but Prothro came up big.

Wow.

You can catch the video here.

I don’t need no video — I stuck through that miserable 21-10 USM lead and watched that bitch LIVE. No matter how bad things look, you’ve got to watch the game and keep the faith.
Or, you can have no faith like I did at the half of last year’s Iron Bowl, when I knew Auburn was going to win, anyway.

Tyrone, you’ve officially been pimped.

I think it’s important to note that this is the second week in a row we’ve gone in without the benefit of game footage on the other team. The fact that we came back after the half and completely dominated both times shows that the coaching staff is getting their act together and making needed adjustments after stinking up the first half. Still, without that catch by Prothro to put a spark into the team I don’t know if we would have been able to come from behind.

Best catch since Mike Williams vs. Oregon State 2003. Shit – best catch I have ever seen, and I was fortuante enough to see it live as well. I happened to switch over to this when both OSU-Tex & ASU-LSU were at commercial. Dude is an instant legend in Tuscaloosa, and will never buy a drink there as long as he lives. I think people will be talking about that catch in 10/20/30 years, which is pretty remarkable for a non-game-winning catch in a non-rivalry game.

It was some catch. I don’t know why it was reviewed. If the defender would’ve caught it this way would it have been interference?

Tide looked flat but I think USM came out inspired (Katrina and all). After the half, USM’s typical bland and talentless offense came back to roost. I did think the roughing the passer penalty against USM was a gift but those things happen.

Nice win for the Tide when all cylinders weren’t clicking. Last year or so when that’s happened, the Tide has lost.

Shula still looks like a Grad Assistant.

That call wasn’t a gift — USM was trying to take Croyle out. There’s a story out in the Mobile Register about it.

Alabama looks like they’re going to be a 2nd half team this year.

It is encouraging though that they put up over 300 yards in the air with Southern Miss having an All-American cornerback (who got toasted on a 52 yard reception on the first Alabama offensive play.)

I feel bad for the Southern Miss guys, but their football team was taking some cheap shots at Croyle. One guy was operationg on the 5 step rule. Then that thug at the end punched someone in the pile up. Tsk tsk tsk Golden Eagles.

P.S. – Prothro’s catch was ludicrously awesome.
