Being a life long georgia tech fan i pracitcally hate every dawg fan there is. no matter if theyre family "has only been incestous one time" but never the less i have to agree with them, Chan Gailey is possibly one of the worst coaches in history and is so s scripted in his play calling i can read all of his plays. If chan gailey wasnt so deeply in love with reggie ball mabey taylor bennett could get a chance heave one or two passes into the arms of one of techs premeire receivers. But yet reggie cant even complete one or two. Mabey he'll complete a couple to someone wearing anything but the white and gold, but hey thats the story of my life sitting on the fifty at bobby dodd. Mabey Chan gailey can throw a couple more games away next year, i never liked crowd noise anyway

Hey, great name. Gators remember a guy named Peace rather fondly, as should Dawg fans. He was our qb in the Belew-Scott game.

Bradley's universally negative without the humor to mitigate the bitterness. We like Furman Bisher, but only because he's nine thousand years old and still breathing. Besides Barnhard, the AJC's asleep at the wheel.

I know of him - my old highschool principle once regaled me with a story about him (he being a UF alum, I believe) to celebrate my making the JV Basketball team in 9th grade. So every now and again I come across someone who says "hey, are you related to the guy who QB's for the Gators?", and that game does come up those times. That always brings a smile to my face. I wasn't a Dawgs fan then - my family still lived in Virgina (moved in 83) and it would be some time before I fully cmae to appreciate sports (I feel I've gotten the best of both worlds though, coming from an ACC hoops background and then growing up in SEC land).

Agreed on all counts about the AJC. Schultz's picks columns can be decent, but when he should stick to them. I sometimes think Terrance Moore is actually actually a cabal. One of them cranks out the occasional reasonable column - usually 4-5 a year tops - and the rest just mash the keyboard, spellcheck, and submit.

Bradley was more fun when he was an unabashed UK fan. I'm not crazy about Bischer, but agreed you gotta give him props for being alive. Barnhart is good, but his star only gets to shine in the fall.

Of course, it could be worse. Try reading the Macon Telegraph. Mike Lough is decent (and a good guy), and I can't remember anyone else's name because they're all that forgettable. Occasionaly cranking out ridiculous columns about things like how Slugging Percentage is a newfangled baseball stat.

I really only like it for highschool sports coverage (having friends that coach, or recently coached, various sports and I follow my Alma Mater in most things) - but they are hit and miss with that.

Believe me, the AJC looks outstanding by comparison.

I'd like to get on the Chan-Gailey-is-comically-inept bandwagon, I really would.

But I have this one problem: NC State can't beat Chan Gailey's Yellow Jackets. We could be 9-0, Reggie Ball could throw three interceptions...it doesn't matter. It's disturbing just to think about.

Broken clock, twice a day, you know the drill. It's Tenuta they can't beat, not Gailey.

Isn't it strange how at times the Dawgs seem to be under an electron microscope (certainly concerning "off the field" stuff), and yet tech gets so little attention? I've often wondered myself "do they realize who is, or is not if you want to look at it that way, coaching Georgia Tech?" Why doesn't that get more talk? I think Tech's too downtrodden to pick on overmuch, though, and maybe they realize that.

Peacedog, how's the VW van? Still truckin'? And is that Freedom Rock, cuz if it is, turn it up, man!

Sorry-the hippie-sounding name cracks us up. It's almost as silly sounding as Orson Swindle, which is someone's real name.

Tech got caught in bad spot and tried to make the best of it: O'Leary leaves, they get nothing in the coaching market, and they grasp at a bad straw and hope it works. This is the season they give up on Gailey and get in early on the November hiring rush, doing what a school the size of Tech with their academic standards has to do, which is hire a clever coach with a scheme that can take advantage of smart players who fall just under the big powers' recruiting radar. Maybe they get on the spread option kick, or maybe they take back Ted Roof, the former DC under O'Leary who's given Duke a pulse. (Roof also humiliated Gailey, which couldn't have made Dave Braine happy to watch.)

Actually, sitting here in the middle of Atlanta, we really don't see the Dawgs being under any kind of microscope. They're overshadowed by UT and SC's arrestafest, and Mark Richt's manner and gentle handling of the media's gone a long way toward smoothing out the legal problems they've had.

Peace is my honest go goodness last name - no hippiness involved. I'm not sure where it came from, and I've never asked. Never ruin a good thing. Peacedog became my nickname (and I've had more than a few) in 87ish, and it's stuck. The Cult's fantastic album Electric, Nintendo, and the Lee Mullins Jef Flournoy one-two punch was how it all came togehter (Lee coined the nickname thanks to the samely-titled second track on that album, Jef liked it and when Jef liked a nickname, it stuck, because he had this way of getting everybody to call you it within a week. He's primarily responsible for, or assisted on, like 90% of the nicknames of the people I know). This was the nick I had that lasted the longest (people still call me this, many moons later), and it was a natural handle on the net.

Roof would be a good hire I think. There's enough talent in Georgia for UGA to be where it is and Tech to do better, I think. What I want to see is what happens if Gailey passes the mystical 7-win barrier and maybe wins a bowl game. Because they could do this and still not be good. An upset of UGA could give him another year - and that's something that could prove bad for tech fans. Delicious.

There have been some unpleasant articles about UGA over the past few months in the AJC (that bastion of journalism). Also nationally, but not as many. The whole "what does it take to get suspended at Georgia" thing that sometiems came up randomly in people's stuff was kind of lame as well. We've got a pretty good track record for that.
