WEIS: ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Is Charlie Weis serious? Fucking hell he is: Blue-Gray Sky gives you the goods on how serious and detailed he really is.

Orson Swindle and Stranko Montana are two men pushing thirty who should know better than to run a college football blog, but evidently don't. Both graduated from the University of Florida, and both agree that college football is far too important to be left to the professionals.

Is ND-nation getting worked up because Weis diagramed the huddle? I remember having that pretty well down to a science in pee-wee football. Really, it was never a problem. Of course, at ND he’ll probably have to go over the diagram more than once.

Weis doesn’t run a west coast offense. What he runs is very similar to Tedford’s offense, especially as far as terminology.
It’s about concepts more so than individual plays, and all that needs to be learned is the language of formations, personnel groupings, protections, route combos, etc. It’s like building words from the alphabet…learn the letters and you can build whatever you need.
Tedford is similar in his approach. As complex as his offense appears to be, he runs the same plays out of different looks (created by formations, packages and motion). It’s simple. This is the new wave of “sophisticated” offenses. Guys like Petrino, Hawkins and Friedgen are doing the same thing.
While the playbook is somewhat thicker, it’s easier to learn because it’s about concepts. Once the concept is learned, it can be utilized in a multitude of offensive looks.

The biggest reason ND fans should worry about Weis is his playbook, which is by all accounts fatter than Willinghams.
The pro-style West Coast offense DOES NOT WORK in college. It takes 5 years to teach. And by then, everyone is graduated.
