RICHT DISMISSES STARTING LINEBACKER FROM THE BULLDOG TEAM
Not wanting to be lost in the SEC shuffle of off-season arrests, the Georgia players have been attempting to grab back some headlines. Most recently, it was a DUI arrest of Senior-to-be linebacker Derrick White. White was already suspended for Georgia’s first two games following a bar fight in April. Well, coach Richt is apparently all too happy to have Fulmer and Spurrier dominate the off season news so he has taken some action by dismissing White from the team.
NOTRE DAME NAMES CUTCLIFFE’S REPLACEMENT
Charlie Weis has named former Irish quarterbacks coach and NFL Europe head coach Peter Vaas to replace David Cutcliffe.
JOE PA OPTIMISTIC ABOUT NEXT SEAON… THAT MAKES ONE OF US
Meeting with boosters in Philadelphia, Paterno has expressed optimism about next season’s squad, which returns nine starters on defense. It is almost hard to imagine these days but it was not long ago that Penn State was a perennial national champion contender (as well as a factor on draft day), but four losing seasons in the last five has erased those kinds of expectations. That is, for everyone but Joe Pa, who still insists that retirement is not yet a consideration. We don’t imagine there’s are very many college football fans that wouldn’t like to see Paterno be able to go out on his terms with a building program… but we don’t share his optimism about next season.

Joe Pa might be the only one who hasn’t given up on his chances to catch Bowden for the career win mark.
