GATORS TO BE TOP FIVE OFFENSE NEXT YEAR?

Heisman Pundit shows the Gators and new coach Urban Meyer some love as he predicts a big and balanced year for the Gator offense. We here at EDSBS.com (especially after attending the Orange and Blue game) we see the possibility of big things in Gainesville too, but will lack the confidence that they will "roll through the SEC like Schwarzkopf through Iraq".

With Meyer at the helm, the swagger is back for the Florida fans... how long will it remain.

Addendum—-3 early home cream puffs, I believe to open the season no less (correct me if I’m wrong). Most teams, especially ones trying to build something for the duration of the season (like UF, USC, Boise, etc.), are particularly vulnerable early in the season. When a schedule brushes that kind of worry aside the team is less likely to stumble, although it is significantly less prepared for its first real test, in general.

Plenty more on them as the season goes on, we’ll be talking plenty about the Gators this year.

PS-watched the spring game on I believe CSTV today, impressive, obviously a lot more work needs to be done, but I really like that Portis, won’t miss much of a beat if Leak gets injured. It looks like those underneath screens are the most successful elements of the offense right now, and until Wynn is healthy that running game will really have to improvise.

Why not? All that matters is how swiftly the team goes from basic comprehension to true operation of its offense. Smart offenses tend to take some time to develop (which also means they’re really strong at the end of the year—-see HP’s list of 5 and their bowl performances!) but once there are difficult to slow down.

Try and relax this season and witness the revolution in the Swamp, watching the how’s more than the what’s. Fascinating and far more beneficial to win arguments with the rival schools.

Besides, the UF sked is particularly easy this year, golden path to the Rose Bowl (how weird is that, Florida in the Rose Bowl?), 3 home cream puffs, nothing too fancy other than the LSU and FSU games, and FSU comes really late when that Gator offense will likely have reached unstoppable mode.
