NEVER TO EARLY TO START THE HEISMAN HYPE
Take a look here at who the boys from ESPN are starting to hype for the Heisman. Some names are a given, like Matt Leinart and Adrian Peterson, others fairly obvious, like Florida’s Chris Leak (assuming he doesn’t get broken running Urban Meyers offense), but there are a few others which are a bit more out on a limb. I, for one, will wait until at least the season starts to figure out who is worthy of the hype.

Adrian Peterson is the best player in college football. Mark my words: the heisman is his to lose.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but Matt Leinart will have some say in this as the defending Heisman winner on a potential national championship team. Peterson is a beast but I wonder about his longevity given his reluctance to ever run out of bounds…. if he misses any time, the Heisman will be tough for him to win.

Leak. He’s off the radar for this year, a good place to start since most people who start as preseason faves end up getting tagged as “disappointments.” But he’s known nationally, and will put up huge numbers since I get the sneaky feeling Florida won’t be able to run a whole lot this year. That’s not a homer pick, either. I really think he’ll throw his arm off this year.
